How to Market an Artist:  Tell/Show the Artist’s Story with Video

How to Market an Artist

Intriguing Artist

I shot a short video about Mirza Mohamed because he intrigued me.  I had interviewed him for a short documentary to raise funds for a new global charity.  But how much can you do with an artist at an office.  I wanted to capture him at work.  Wanted to show how he creates his great artwork.

How to Market an Artist:  Takeaways

  • Try to capture the creative process.
  • Suggest that the artist create their artwork as you talk with them.
  • Rather than asking typical questions, converse with the artist.
  • Do ask about what you see the artist doing.  That brings the viewer into the creative process.
  • Ideally, end the video showing the finished product.
  • And include a call to action so viewers can learn more and possibly purchase the artist’s work.

About Mirza

Original and print art by Mirza. Oil on canvas, acrylic on canvas, acrylic on poster, wood, glass, ceramic, and metal. With theme variations including Buddhist, zen, surrealism, fantasy, contemporary art, avantgarde, modern expressionism.
According to his brochure:  Mirza captures in his paintings the mystical area of human existence, which is between the real world and the unseen world. The world that we are all subconsciously aware of and can relate to intuitively. A world that borders around the fringes of surrealism and fantasy.
