To discover How to Juice Up Your Presentations, you might learn from what’s essentially an audition video for a TV anchor.

I coached this anchor several years ago on storytelling and delivery at her former TV station.  Casey Ferrand impressed me with her personality.  When I came across this video showing excerpts from many newscasts, it reminded me of the importance of your tapping into the full range of your communication skills.

As you look at the various examples from Casey’s tape, consider your range.  The goal isn’t to imitate her.  It isn’t to play TV anchor or reporter.  Rather open your mind to the possibilities of what you can accomplish to break through to audiences — whether in person or on video.

How to Juice Up Your Presentation Tips

Consider the full range of your emotions.

When did you come across as having the most fun?

Most serious?

Most happy?

Most thoughtful?

Most humorous?

Most intense?

Most compassionate?

Most enthusiastic?

Most energetic?

And you can add to the list.  The idea is to tap into what you’re capable of doing when appropriate, but you just don’t think about.  And that’s because you’re focusing on getting the words right for the viewer.  Just think of how others see you in different situations.

Introspection is good for all of us.  Looking back at this this story I did years ago for the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite, I could have varied my delivery more.  In short, I needed to sound less like a reporter on a national newscast and more like a person telling you a story.

Let me put my years of experience to work for you, helping fine tune your storytelling — either in front of audiences in person or on video.  Contact me at bob@kaplitz.tv.
